BSMS History of Medicine Society: inaugural meeting

From an e-mail from Christopher Ward & Anita Wale, President & Vice President of the
BSMS History of Medicine Society.

The BSMS History of Medicine Society cordially invites you to attend our inaugural lecture on the 8th of February, 6 pm, Medical School Building, University of Sussex Campus. The talk will be followed by refreshments in the foyer.

Prof. Rodney Taylor, Consultant Gastroenterologist and President of the Faculty of the History and Philosophy of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries of London will be delivering a lecture entitled Diagnosis… How did we get to where we are today? We anticipate that this lecture will be the first in an established lecture series designed to enhance an appreciation of medicine, both past and present, for staff and students alike!

We pride ourselves on our close relationship with the faculty at every level. We cannot adequately express our gratitude for the many academics and administrators who have made significant contributions to the inception of this Society. We are delighted to extend our invitation to the faculty in order that your kind selves may continue to share in this exciting venture with us. This is the one not to be missed!

Medicine and the Body Politic

I saw an advertisement in the London Review of Books, but there's also more on the Centre for Applied Philosophy, Politics and Ethics website, announcing their inaugural conference to take place at the University of Brighton 21 - 22 September 2006. Abstracts close on 28 February 2006. Helem Smith is one of the keynote speakers.
